Notarization services are provided by a Barrister & Solicitor appointed as a Notary Public by the Attorney General of Ontario. A Notary Public appointed in this manner has a broader scope of authority than a Commissioner of Oaths, most notably the ability to certify photocopies of original documents as true copies. Examples of documents notarized here include:
- Affidavit
- Statutory Declaration
- Consent to travel form
- Letter of invitation
- Proof of Loss
- Power of Attorney
- Employment and criminal background checks
- Statement of conscience or religious belief: Immunization of School Pupils Act
- Application for an Insurance Agent’s Licence
- Manufacturer’s Declaration for Export of Food Products
- Canadian Construction Documents: CCDC 9A-2001; CCDC 9B-2001 etc.
- Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada: Examination Application
- Promissory note
- Mortgage documents
- Real estate documents
- Probate documents
If your document needs to be authenticated, notarization is a required step in the process. More information can be found in our blog, Apostille.
